ABOUT IAFS Iwate Agriculture Frontier School

MISSION & EDUCATION GOALS

IAFS tries to grow up professional people in farm and farming advisory service addressing the development of highly productive and internationally competitive Japanese farming, with business-oriented mind and management innovation.

IFAS has four educational goals to survive against international competition of the industry. (1) Enhancement of farm bushiness competency and business-oriented mind. (2) Achievement of most-advanced production technology and innovation. (3) Practice of product development and innovative marketing. (4) Strategy and action plan formulation in the business and personal transformation as professional people.

COURSES & SUBJECTS

IAFS has three courses for different educational goals.

(1) Agri-Career up Course
This course is for people in farm and farming advisory service who wish to learn the underpinning knowledge that a professional manager on rural enterprise should have.
In this course you can take core subjects such as Agricultural Policy, CEO, Production Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Accounting & Financial Management, and Farm Business Growth Management.

(2) Agri-Frontier Course
This course is for people in farm and farming advisory service who wish to develop advanced technical and managerial knowledge and skills focusing on frontier of production.
In this course you can take core subjects such as Agricultural Policy, Production Management, Technology for Sustainable Farming,
Crop Rotation System and Risk Management in Paddy Farming, Technology for Production Stability, Agricultural Biotechnology and Safety,
Production Technique respond to Consumer Needs, and Production and Sales Management using Information Technology.

(3) Marketing Innovation Course
This course is for people in farm and farming advisory service who wish to develop advanced technical and managerial knowledge and skills focusing on innovative marketing.
In this course you can take core subjects such as Agricultural Policy, Marketing Management, Product Development, Food-Processing Technology, Product Design, Promotion, and Food Safety and Law.

Also you can take a variety of subjects at several training needs such as Open Class, On Farm Study, and Farm Trip to Overseas. You need to attempt Financial Analysis and Business Planning to finalize any courses.

AWARD

You can be awarded Certificate of Professional Agricultural Manager after completing ALL three courses. This certification is newly-established and will be awarded by Iwate University.
