Lab PI. Dr. Abidur Rahman has joined the editorial board of Journal of Plant growth regulation on a 5 year term.

Dr. Mohammad Aslam from India joined the lab as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow. His tenure will be for two years (2015-2017). Dr. Aslam will work on micro RNA mediated auxin signaling
under cold stress. Before joining the lab, he was a fulbright scholar in Texas A&M university. A warm welcome to him!!!

Lab PI and students attended the 56th JSPP meeting held at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Setagaya Campus, Tokyo

Lab PI, Dr. Abidur Rahman and one of MS students, Miori Yoshida visited Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI) in Vienna to start a collaborative project with Dr.
Wolfgang Busch's group on using GWAS. Dr. Rahman also presented the lab's work on temperature stress and auxin homeostasis on February 6.
January 9-10, 2015
Lab PI, Dr. Abidur Rahman succesfully organized the "International Conference of Health and Agriculture (ICBHA) 2nd GNOBB conference 2015" in Dhaka, Bangladesh with the help of colleagues from
Dhaka University. Two faculties from UGAS, Dr. Tawaraya of Yamagata University and Dr. Hiroyoki Shimono of Iwate University also attended the conference.

Siriwat Boonchaisiri joined the lab as a doctoral student. Siriwat hails from Thailand. He will be working on understanding the role of protein trafficking pathways in regulating the high temperature stress in

The Lab PI, participated the XII France-Japan workshop on Plant Science as an invited speaker. He talked about cellular mechanism of auxin homeostasis under high
temperature stress on the second day of the workshop.

MEXT scholar, Arif Ashraf arrived yesterday to study in our lab. He will study cold temperature stress and protein trafficking for his Ph.D. Arif is the first foreign student of our lab.

The Lab PI, Dr. Abidur Rahman has returned from University of Saskatchewan after suscessfully starting the Iwate University-University of Saskatchewan
summer program. He was instrumental in developing the program and currently serving as the program leader.

Second year MS student, Kana Umestsu has been awarded the ASPB travel grant to attend the Plant Biology- 2014 meeting. This is the 4th year on a row at least one of our lab members has been
awarded the travel grant. Congratulations to the award winners!!

Takahiro Numata and Miori Yoshida successfully completeled their M.Sc. and B.Sc. respectively.
Congratulations to both of them!!!
Takahiro joinned Quintill as a research associate and Miori enrolled as a M.Sc. student Iwate University and continue her research work in Abidur Lab.
Best of luck to both of them.

Grant news

We have been awarded gakkei Project grant for the fiscal year 2012-2013 from Iwate University to work on "Understanding the molecular mechanisms of 

cadmium and cesium toxicity in plants to engineer hyperaccumulator plants for phytoremediation".  We will work with a challenging concept and hope it will 

work out!!!
