Magnesium is an essential element for plant and the deficiency of magnesium causes various metabolic disorders in ruminants. One of the concerning disorders due to magnesium deficiency is hypomagnesemia. Keeping this in mind, experiments were carried out last years using selected cultivars of orchardgrass, Italian ryegrass and tall fescue, which vares genetically from commericial cultivars in their magnesium content. This year also several expriments will be conducted using the same materials.All thes expriments can be considered as one step to understand the mechanism of magnesium absorption by forage grasses.
